Cash & Carry / Retail Wholesale

Where the shopfront
meets the warehouse.

Cash & carry stores need everything a warehouse needs and everything a retailer needs, at the same time, in the same building. LED displays, pallet racking, electrical, networking, CCTV, trade counters, mezzanine offices. One contractor delivers all of it.

Why cash & carry is different

Half warehouse. Half shop.
Twice as many trades.

A cash & carry store is both a working warehouse and a customer-facing retail environment. Most fit-out contractors can do one or the other. Few can do both, at the same time, without stopping you trading.

01

Brand-led displays

FMCG manufacturers expect their products on premium LED screens above the till lanes. Stella, Pepsi, P&G; campaigns change weekly. Your fit-out has to deliver that, not photo-frame it.

02

High-value, bonded stock

Alcohol, tobacco, and high-value FMCG mean you need CCTV with bonded-area coverage, access control on goods-in, and security shutters on trade counters. All signed off and operational from day one.

03

Operational continuity

You can't shut for six weeks. Fit-outs happen overnight, in phased zones, or around your trading hours. Pickers keep picking. Customers keep shopping. Every trade plans around that, not the other way around.

04

Stock changes weekly

Pallet positions, end-of-aisle promotions, branded display zones. Your racking, signage, and screens all need to flex as ranges and promotions move through. Static fit-outs don't last.

Everything we deliver for cash & carry

Four trades, one contract,
one project manager.

Most cash & carry operators today juggle a racking supplier, an electrical contractor, an LED installer, and a CCTV company. We replace all four with one in-house team running on the same install timeline.

A typical cash & carry fit-out

How a 4-week refit
actually runs.

Most cash & carry fit-outs aren't ground-up new builds. They're refits, extensions, and rebrand projects in stores that have to keep trading. Here's what that looks like with ProHammer.

1

Week 0

Survey & design

Site survey of your existing floor, racking, electrical, and CCTV. CAD layouts and 3D walkthrough of the proposed fit-out. Sign-off on scope, scope, timeline, and trading-hour constraints.

2

Weeks 1 to 2

Phased build

Trades phased through the store: zone-by-zone or overnight, around your trading. Racking up, mezzanines built, LED panels installed, electrical and networking run in. Customer access protected throughout.

3

Week 3

Integrate & commission

Screens powered up, content management set, CCTV cameras enrolled, alarms tested. Trade counters fitted, lockers installed, furniture in. Brand-matched finishes signed off room by room.

4

Week 4

Sign-off & handover

NICEIC, fire-alarm, and CCTV certificates issued. SARI inspection on new racking. Training on content management and security systems. First annual maintenance booked.

"We used to schedule the racking installer for one weekend, the sparkies for the next, the CCTV company a fortnight later. With ProHammer, everyone turns up on the same Monday."

FAQ

Questions cash & carry operators
ask before quoting.

Can you work overnight or outside trading hours?
Yes. Most cash & carry projects are delivered around your trading hours. Overnight installs, Sunday close-downs, or phased zone-by-zone work plans are all standard for us. We write the method statement around your operating pattern, not ours, and we keep the customer-facing areas clean and safe throughout.
Do you understand bonded stock requirements?
Yes. We routinely design installs that respect bonded-area separation: physical partitioning, dedicated CCTV coverage, monitored access control on goods-in and bonded zones, and documented audit trails. We can work with your HMRC-approved warehouse keeper to make sure the design holds up at audit.
Can you work with manufacturer-supplied LED screens?
Yes, and this is common. FMCG manufacturers often supply branded LED screens for campaigns. We install them, run the structural mounting, dedicated electrical supply, network feed, and content management. The screen is theirs; the install is ours.
How do you handle security during refits?
Site security is part of the method statement. Active CCTV stays running throughout. We either maintain the existing system on temporary mounts or install the new system in parallel. Goods-in access is locked down to a single supervised route during the install. All our installers are CSCS-carded and DBS-checked on request.
Can you maintain CCTV continuity during install?
Yes. We design new CCTV installs as parallel deployments. The old system stays live until the new one is commissioned and tested. We never leave a site with a coverage gap. Where it's not possible to overlap, we deploy temporary cameras to bridge the install window.
What's the typical fit-out timeline?
A full refit of a mid-sized cash & carry (LED, racking, electrical, CCTV, trade counters) typically runs 4 to 8 weeks depending on store size and trading-hour constraints. Targeted upgrades (just LED, or just racking) are usually 1 to 3 weeks. A new build from shell completes in 12 to 16 weeks.
Do you handle planning permission for mezzanine offices?
Yes. Mezzanines above a certain size, or used as offices rather than storage, typically need building regs sign-off and may need planning permission. We handle the application paperwork, fire strategy, and structural calculations in-house. Allow 6 to 8 weeks lead time for the permission process if it's needed.
Can you maintain the systems after install?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts covering electrical EICR, emergency lighting testing, fire-alarm servicing, CCTV health checks, SARI racking inspections, and LED content updates. Most cash & carry clients take a bundled annual maintenance plan covering all systems on one contract.
