How we design the right LED

Five things that decide whether
your LED works or doesn't.

Most buyers we speak to know they want LED. Few know which LED. Here's what we ask before we quote, and what the answers mean for your install.

01

Pixel pitch: how close people stand

Pixel pitch is the distance between adjacent LEDs in millimetres. Smaller pitch means higher resolution and more cost per square metre. Simple rule: minimum viewing distance in metres roughly equals the pitch number.

A P2.5 screen looks crisp from 2.5m, perfect for an indoor advertising display people walk past. A P10 reads clearly from 10m, ideal for a video wall mounted high above till lanes. We specify pitch based on where people actually stand.

02

Brightness (nits): how bright the space is

Brightness is measured in nits. Indoor screens typically run 800-1,500 nits. Outdoor screens in UK daylight need 4,500-6,000 nits. Above-window or shopfront screens facing direct sunlight need 6,000 or more.

Under-spec the nits and your install looks dull or unreadable. Over-spec and you waste money. We pick for the ambient light in your specific location, not a generic average.

03

Indoor vs. outdoor IP rating

IP54 handles indoor dust and the occasional splash. IP65 handles direct rain. IP67 handles submersion. Many "outdoor" screens are only IP54 on the back and need housings to be truly weatherproof.

We specify IP65 or higher for every outdoor install (front, back, and every cable seal) so the screen doesn't fail in its first winter.

04

Content management: how you'll run it

An LED screen is only useful if your team can update what's on it. We set up content management systems that let you schedule ads, swap promotions, run different content on different screens, and update remotely from a laptop or phone.

We can also provide ongoing content support if you'd rather not manage it in-house.

05

Mounting & integration: where it physically goes

Wall-mounted, ceiling-suspended, freestanding totem, integrated into existing racking, or housed in a custom structure. Every LED install is also a structural install. Our team handles the load calculations, the fixing, and any reinforcement needed.

If your space needs new racking, mezzanines, or partitions to accommodate the screen, our infrastructure team builds it. One project, one timeline.

The full-service difference

Nobody ever bought
a screen on its own.

Every LED install also needs structure to mount it, power to run it, and a network to drive it. We handle all three.

01 / STRUCTURE

We mount it.

Our team handles structural mounting: modifying existing racking, building new wall structures, reinforcing partitions, or designing custom freestanding installations. NICEIC- and CSCS-qualified tradespeople, no subcontractor handovers.

02 / POWER

We power it.

Dedicated circuits, surge protection, emergency cut-offs, fused spurs, installed and certified by our in-house electricians. We commission every LED install with full electrical sign-off, so there are no "who's responsible if it shorts" conversations down the line.

03 / NETWORK

We connect it.

Structured Cat6 cabling, wi-fi coverage, content management server setup, and remote-monitoring integration. Connect your LED to your existing till system, stock feed, or marketing platform so the screens show live data, not static images.

You don't need three contractors.
You need one number.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask
before quoting.

What's pixel pitch, and how do I choose the right one?
Pixel pitch is the distance between adjacent LEDs, measured in millimetres. A smaller number means higher resolution. The simple rule: minimum viewing distance in metres equals the pitch number. P2.5 is sharp from 2.5m. P10 reads clearly from 10m. We help you pick the right pitch based on your viewing distance, content type, and budget.
How long does an LED installation typically take?
Most single-screen installs are completed in 1-3 days. Multi-panel video walls take 1-3 weeks depending on size, structural work, and electrical scope. Full warehouse fit-outs incorporating LED, racking, and other trades typically run 4-8 weeks. We always quote a fixed timeline upfront.
What's the difference between indoor and outdoor LED?
Three things: brightness (indoor around 1,000 nits, outdoor 4,500-6,000), IP rating (outdoor screens are weather-sealed to IP65 or higher), and pixel-pitch options (outdoor screens generally use larger pitches because of viewing distance). The hardware costs differ accordingly, but the install methodology is similar.
Can you supply content and run it for us?
Yes. We set up content management systems as part of every install, so your team can update what's shown. For clients who'd rather not manage content in-house, we offer ongoing content scheduling and creation services. Ask about our content support plans.
Do you handle the electrical and structural mounting too?
Always. Every LED install includes dedicated electrical supply (run and certified by our NICEIC-qualified electricians) and structural mounting (whether to existing walls, racking, partitions, or new-build structures). It's the same team, the same contract, the same timeline.
What warranty do you offer?
Hardware is covered by the manufacturer warranty, typically 2-5 years depending on the panel range. Our installation work is guaranteed for 12 months and we offer ongoing maintenance contracts for clients who want guaranteed response times for repairs and content support.
How quickly can you quote a project?
Within 24 hours of an initial brief, we'll respond with either a fixed-price quote or a site-survey appointment for larger jobs. A project manager (not a salesperson) handles the conversation from the first call to install day.
Do you only work with one LED brand?
No. We're brand-agnostic and specify hardware based on the project. We work with major manufacturers (Absen, Unilumin, Leyard, ROE and others) depending on the install. If you've already chosen a brand, we'll work with it.
